Sengoku Rance patch ver. 0.50 (Kenshin) release!
I am proud to announce our second Sengoku Rance translation patch!!
This patch has the Kenshin route, images, and many other things translated.
Although there are several untranslated scripts and unfixed errors, I believe this patch is good enough for an entertaining playthrough. If you skipped the teaser patch to wait for a playable patch, this is it. You can go ahead and download this patch unless you want the complete experience of the game.
This is a patch for version 1.04 of the game. (It may also work on 1.00, although we haven’t tested it on that version.) The game may also require Japanese locale to run.

The installer WILL NOT WORK unless you already have the game installed.

- The system automatically takes away the spaces with inserted character/country names in text. Still trying to fix this.

In a few key battles there’s actually something said different from “CHAARGE!” or “Take this!”, but for the most part no, you aren’t really missing anything. (And you could probably make up what they’re saying in those key battles pretty well in your head anyways.)

sorry for this noob question, how can I tell if my game’s ver. is 1.04 or 1.00? If it’s 1.00, can I update it to 1.04 or something?

shiki, in the map point your mouse at the top of the screen and wait a sec or two. The menu will show up and you’ll see your version of the game. Mine is 1.31 and so far it works perfectly fine with the patch.

Question :
Do you guys have riots starting in your countries? i own 4 of them so far, and the riots are progessing fast… + 14% every day… It’s getting anoying to supress them all. Any way to keep the populace from rioting besides sending troups (thus using one of your 2 actions per day)?

Where can I ask questions about how some of the commands work?
Switch just takes the unit out of the battle. I was hoping I could pull my troops to the back row.
And whats the point or recruiting a student? Their stats are all 1s.

Go to the third option from the right on the top menu (the one with (H)) and choose the middle option (one with (G)) and it should show your game version number in the second box.
As for version 1.04, you can download it from Alicesoft’s page http://www.alicesoft.com/support/rance7.html#v104
I think the game is playable without much difference even with ver 1.0, though.

Don’t suppress the riots since it’s not worth the action fan. You can fight the rioters when they go on the riot, and just concentrate on beating the Tenshi sect to stop them.

Switch “switches” the character who’s fighting with someone else. There’s no command in the game to move commanders around during battle.
There isn’t really a point to recruiting students unless you absolutely need more commanders for some reason.

excuse me, since I install the patch, I cannot recruit Masamune (however
I was able to recruit Noir, Nogiku & Orime).
And the additional character, Gekkou & Shizuka seem like they have a bug, the game screes just cover with black whenever they appeared (in dialogue mode, troops, items .v.v.)

I’m pretty sure I had that Shizuka problem. That just means your game isn’t updated to 1.04. I do on the other hand have a problem installing the new patch. When the bar fills up to patching I get a runtime error about aldpatch.exe. “The program has requested the runtime to terminate in an unusual way” and after that although it says Name has been installed. The new patch doesn’t take effect.

Whee, this is pretty awesome.
I’m still getting scattered crashes, I don’t know if anyone else reports similarly, particularly at the event where the Iga revolt and try to reestablish their country.

thanks for your help, I forget to patch the game to 1.04. Gekkou is fine now. I still havent got Shizuka in my replay so I dont know about her (probably fine too )
About Masamune, I captured 3 girls in One Eyed land but didnt recruit them after destroy their house. After 3 turn, Masamune pop out in my force (however, I miss the chance to clear them).
I load again, recruit them, defeat 1eye house, clear them, and wait for about 15 turn but no one pop out . Is this just a coincident ?
And the National Power, since I got 800 NP, used 273 (from hacking) I dont think I need to care about it…
Last question: What is in “Kill the monkey” route ? I remember the last time when I entered that route, conquered the entire map, waiting for event, suddenly Nobunaga pop out, saying stuff I dont understand >>> gameover

I have the same problem as Genkaku. The patcher crashes with a C++ runtime error.

You probably selected the wrong game path. You have to select the folder with the .ald files. It should be something like “C:\Program Files\AliceSoft\戦国ランス”.

Thanks very much for the awesome new patch! I’m really grateful for what you folks are doing.
I wanted to point out that the tooltip for the “asset” skill might be incorrect, since the maximum seems to be 2000 gold, and not 20%. (Even the alicesoft wiki says it so, and that’s what I experienced so far too, despite having four characters with the skill and 100k+ gold.)
I don’t know, if it was mentioned anywhere, but I thought it is worth pointing out, if it’s incorrect or something.

@Vivio: It’s usually “C:\AliceSoft\戦国ランス”, AliceSoft by default don’t install in Program Files, they place the AliceSoft folder in the root of the drive.

Anyone managed to recruit the 3 takeda generals? I stopped the 4 consecutive blitz and did the assassination event. They’re now hired by other countries but I can’t capture them in battle no matter what I do. And yes my prison has space.
Also I finished Kenshin’s route but the score didn’t get added.

Great translation. I’m very grateful for your work. I just thought I’d point out a little error, though you probably already know about it. I hope to make this as spoiler-free as possible so I’ll be vague; when the character named “large man” first speaks, he uses the word “devision” when it should be “division”.
Also, when you’ve finished the translation, it would be great if the site I mod at could put news of it on the front page. I’m talking about FAKKU. We’ve covered Katawa Shoujo on the front page and though I haven’t mentioned this to the site owner yet, I’m sure he’d be happy to feature your translation when it’s complete. Try leveling up a bit by going through those dungeons I had a better chance in beating Xavier 1st try. (sorry not much there)
And the thing about the forum seems to be a good idea either you guys make one or as I mention above using gamefaqs.com and use their message board in the sengoku rance section for help and what not.

Yeah, that happened to me sometimes in the Japanese game. I think it’s a system bug in the original game. The only advice I can give you is to try to avoid it by beating Iga with Suzume in your party.

I actually noticed the asset skill thing too when I played the game… but the original authors put it in there, so I’m keeping it. (I’m assuming there’s a reason they didn’t fix this in the 1.04 patch…)

If you can’t beat Xavier on your first try, I suggest keep continuing after you get a game over, since continuing weakens the enemy (with score sacrifices). Since you’ll likely get a score of 0 on your first play, it doesn’t really matter if you abuse continuing.

Well it’s a bit odd they didn’t patched it then.
Anyway another incorrect (?) thing I found today:
If you recruit both Kawanoe Mine (the big-titty lady), and both Kawanoe Jou (or Yuzuru in the wiki, the grinning idiot) from Takuga, the tooltip for the raising reputation entry (the smiley faces) in Shikoku both says “Kawanoe Mine”.
One as: “Sword Flash: Kawanoe Mine”, the other as “No pranks: Kawanoe Mine”.
The sword flash entry is actually for Jou and not for Mine as far as I can tell.
Oh and the name “Ashikaga Shit” is still in japanese

I started a new game and finished the first battle. However, I can’t save my game when I click on the menu since it’s greyed out. I fastforwarded through a couple of turns and I still couldn’t save. Is this a glitch or is the game supposed to be like that? BTW, I patched up the version 1.04.

You can’t save the game during the dialogue (story) scenes. You can only save on the country/command selection screen.
