Sengoku Rance patch version 0.90 release!
I am proud to announce our version 0.90 Sengoku Rance translation patch!!
This will be the last partial patch, and will translate most of the text in the game.
The patcher/installer will automatically patch over any previous partial patches, and already includes ver 1.04 of the game.
Here is a list of what has been done since the last patch:
- Translation of Isoroku route
- Translation of Tokugawa, Takuga, Takeda, Tenshi sect, Iga, reinforcements character events
- Fixed game progress report
- Translation of battle speeches
- Translation of misc lines
In terms of overall progress, it’s actually faster to list what’s NOT done.
So here is a list of what’s still left to do:
- Translate Shimazu character events
- Translate Tamagushi Fuuka/Orochi related events
- Translate Alicesoft staff room comments
Please be aware of a few known issues/unfixed bugs (they’re mostly the same problems as the ones in the previous patches):
- Some country and commander names are left in Japanese to keep the game from crashing.
- Overflowing texts in game and chopped text in bonus item selection
- The installer renames the saves to make them compatible with the English locale. You may want to make a backup just in case.
- The installer only works on Win2000 and above due to Unicode filenames.
- There have been reports of saves not appearing in other locales. If this happens, run the game using AppLocale.
- Save copying from a Japanese installation using VirtualStore on Windows Vista is not supported.
*If you happen to see any other Japanese text besides the ones listed above (especially in the map screen), please report it in the forums (link below)

Thank you very much, was looking forward to this for a long time.
Great work, it is much appreciated
September 7th, 2009 at 9:59 am 20
NICE! Can’t wait for the full release. Even so, just .9 of the translation is great. I wish more people would release little patches like you. Haha… awesome… keep up the good work.
September 7th, 2009 at 5:29 pm 21
Thank you for all the translation work you done. Wouldn’t have had the chance to enjoy this intriguing game otherwise.
September 7th, 2009 at 8:59 pm 22
My inventory numbers show up as letters. Like 006 could be 00X or 00W etc. etc.

I was browsing around Youtube and I stumbled upon this…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gc0w1mYECmk&feature=related
It’s sengoku rance but the scenery looks fleshed out, battles were more story-driven from what I saw. Secondary characters had phrases and events during battles and such.
September 8th, 2009 at 12:52 pm 24
I think it might be the spin-off.
September 9th, 2009 at 6:36 am 25
It uses the sprites and portraits from Rance 7. Also the GUI looks pretty unprofessional. My guess is, that it’s just a fan made video, and that there’s no actual game behind it.
September 9th, 2009 at 12:53 pm 26
I get that too and I get some E’s in places like the game progress report and in the Status thing
… btw thanks cant wait for full release
September 9th, 2009 at 4:35 pm 27
^played it with Japanese locale and its fine.. don’t know why i didn’t do that to start with
September 10th, 2009 at 2:52 am 28
I was waiting for it,
thank you very much^_^
September 10th, 2009 at 4:47 am 29
Wonderful, but personally I’ll be waiting until final patch before I get back to playing this again.
Anyway Takajun, you just finished Majikoi? Would you mind writing a review?

TakaJun, could you say how deep Yandere Translations team hacked into the game?
Do you have access to story events script for example? If so, could you share it, if game events conditions are not too hard to understand from the code? Alicesoft wikia is missing some things, while reading 200+ pages thread on Hongfire is exausting (still there are a lot of important info there), and even much more exausting is looking for for specific things.
Having script to look for exact conditions for triggering certain events could be very useful.
For example, after I spent a lot of time to create the most effective plan for game begining to get a lot of troops, I found out that after Tenshiism declares war on me, there is an event of troops running away because of their propaganda. I’d like to know, is there any way to avoid this event or somehow make it less damaging. The only way I’ve found is to reduce max troops for every comander to 300, but that would be even worse. If this event is anvoidable then how to make it happen as soon as possible?
Having script could help us answering many questions on our own.
And what about game mechanics? Do you have a way to find out ramdomization limits for troops when hiring commanders, for example? I’m not sure that they are linear. For example when my non-footmen 300+ commander’s troop average is about 600, I can hire Sen-hime with 700+ troops. But when average is 1000, I don’t get more than 950.
Also, it would be useful to know what are exact effects of stat bonuses that tacticians are giving? Do skill bonuses (from Gather Strength, for example) stack with them?
Also have you considered translating any supplemental material for Sengoku Rance? Like detailed analysis of game mechanics at http://www.foolmaker.net/game/s/rance7/rance7.html, for example?
Thanks!

Takajun… might we be expecting a little info on the next project?
Not that we’re trying to rush you… I’m pretty sure you had your hands full with Sengoku Rance and would want to take a break after all that coding and all, but…
I’m eager to hear what the next project is going to be.

You are amazing. Thank you for your hard work.

Hi, I don’t actually play the translated version of this game, so I don’t know if it’s been fixed.
But I saw a screenshot posted on an imageboard, and noticed a translation error.
The Shinsen-gumi Hani’s name, Kondou H. Isami was translated as “Yuu”.
“Isami” is correct.
He’s name is based on the famous Shinsen-gumi leader of the same name.
Here’s the Japanese wiki entry for him.

It’s been a long time since I had so much fun with some game, thanks a lot for the translation!

I’m amazed to see that such a translation project exists. This is what makes me want to buy and play this game.
Keep up the good work

Can’t wait until the final patch is released….I’ve basically been checking into this site every hour every day since 0.90 was released. When I saw that “Last update: Oct 4″, I started freaking out only to find it was just a slight update regarding a different matter.
But yeah…I really hope the final patch gets released soon, I can’t think of anything else due to my excitement.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Thank you so much for doing all this. Im learning Japanese and hopefully when I get better at it I can help in some way.
I have a question regarding the save + the patch. I was trying to use save file with money + items posted by other users, however it seams like they are using japanese version so when I load the save file all the items are in japanese (including character names as well), only new characters joined later have English names. Is there anyway to work around this, or perhaps someone would be kind enough to post save file for english version?
Thank you so much.
October 5th, 2009 at 1:27 am 39
All saves are converted to English filenames to support English locale. Just save the filenames from “戦国ランス****.***” to “Rance7***.***”
October 5th, 2009 at 8:11 am 40
@TakaJun: Thanks much for the help. Yes I did change the file name as you suggested (otherwise the game wont load the save file). However, for characters that are already in the team and item that are already in the inventory, their names are in Japanese. New characters who join later do have English names though, weird.
