Sengoku Rance patch version 1.00 release!

Eroge, Release October 10, 2009

I am proud to announce our version 1.00 Sengoku Rance translation patch!!
This is a full patch which translates all the text and images in the game (exceptions listed below).
The patcher/installer can:

  • Install the game from the disc.
  • Patch the translation over the installed game.
  • Will automatically patch ver 1.04 of the game.
  • Will automatically patch over any previous translation patches.
  • Will keep saves from previous patches and Japanese version.

Please be aware of several known issues in the patch:

  • Some country and commander names are left in Japanese to keep the game from crashing.
  • “Free for all” mode may freeze on startup. Please keep restarting until it works.
  • There is overflowing text in game.
  • Fonts may look weird if MS Gothic and MS Mincho fonts are not installed.
  • Untranslated Japanese text or SJIS characters will look garbled in the English locale.
  • The installer only works on Win2000 and above due to Unicode filenames.
  • Save copying from VirtualStore on Windows Vista is not supported.
  • The installer renames the saves to make them compatible with the English locale. You may want to make a backup just in case.
  • There have been reports of saves not appearing in other locales. If this happens, run the game using AppLocale.

If anyone is really annoyed at the occasional freezing in FFA mode and does not care about more things being untranslated, here is a patch that has names and most of the commands untranslated, while keeping the scripts in English. Just overwrite the rance7.ain in your Sengoku Rance folder with the one in the zip file.

    Thank you for your hard work. I bought Sengoku Rance half a year back from Messe Sanoh and I’m glad to be finally be able to play it in English.

    When might we hear about the next translation project. Half of the games from the survey are games I plan to start playing in Japanese and I would not like to spend my time on games that are being translated. No need to hurry to start the next project, but it would be nice know what title you plan to translate.

    I’m so grateful for the work you guys have done. First of all you are doing this for no benefit and its very admirable. There are many people who cant read japanese so cant play many enjoyable games like this one. This game is one of the most entertaining game i have played. I spent many hours on it.

    In case some people here don’t know, Alice-Soft will be releasing re-make of Rance 2(updated graphics and stuff, gameplay and text will remain same) for their 20th anniversary. Well, the earlier games weren’t like Sengoku at all, and are kind of dated in gameplay too.

    Also, the two games that are seriously considered as Yandere’s next project are these:

    Just finished the first game and I must say it’s the only game I can remember of which in middle of the story made me think about playing it again. It’s a great game and I really appreciate the hard / fast(In my opinion.) work done by listed people.
    I was quite surprised about the mentioned freeze at FFA game but since I’m frankly speaking patient person it doesn’t really bother me to restart few times and make it work.

    Just wanna say some things…
    1) Thank you VERY MUCH for translating this one…
    you guys are AWESOME!!!
    I never really knew about the Rance series until I picked this one
    And I must say, I am really impressed by the amount of work the makers put into the gameplay part.
    (I’ve played eroge with RPG/Action/etc elements before. But I have NEVER seen one with gameplay amazingly done such as this. Compared to other eroge that is)

    2) Keep up the good work…
    And I wish you’d translate another great game (esp. with great gameplay like Sengoku Rance)

    Another note regarding the game…
    1) I don’t like rape, in general…:evil::evil:
    but after playing this game… one question came to mind…
    “where is the line that separates consensual from rape?” O_o
    this one boggled my mind until I came to a temporary conclusion
    “I only approve of rape (for my games/stuff, that is…) IF AND ONLY IF the male lead/rapist is as great/hilarious/cool (okay, maybe not all of that) as Rance”
    XD XD XD
    then maybe I should just play the previous Rance series…

    2) “Curse you, Yandere trans!!!
    After playing this game, I can’t seem to get the kick from playing ‘generic’ eroge anymore… :shock::shock::shock: XP
    or what SRFan above said as the ‘click-click-yawn-click VN’ and the likes”
    ‘hic’ there goes most of my stash of eroge that I haven’t finished yet

    3) Does the term “hyper-weapon” and “imperial juice” comes from the original game, or you took the liberty to put it into the translation?
    If it is you, I think you’re great for doing so… It adds to the hilarious/funny elements of the h-scenes…
    (I mean, I’ve never heard bgm like that for h-scenes before. first time I heard it,,, WTF?!?! lolololol)
